Living Unit Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a mature person with the following:

  1. Ability to supervise and manage all living unit staff.
  2. Ability to organize and supervise activities to accommodate camp routine and therapy schedules.
  3. Ability to organize and work with adults who will be responsible for the daily living needs and activities of special needs children with a wide range of abilities, ages, skills and communication levels.
  4. Knowledge of home life and daily requirements of good hygiene.
  5. Leadership skills, maturity, good character, personality and judgment, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge of behavioral management.
  6. The Living Unit / Activities Coordinator must live in housing provided by I.R.R.R., Inc. during the camp session at the Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp.


Responsibilities:

The individual who fills this position will become an employee of I.R.R.R., Inc. sponsors of Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp. He/She shall be responsible to the Camp Staff Manager and the Board of Directors of I.R.R.R., Inc. It shall be understood that the employee has a duty to ensure that the policies of I.R.R.R., Inc. are maintained as they relate to the employee’s area of responsibility.

  1. Communicate and work with Camp Staff Manager and Clinical Director in developing the activities program in conjunction with therapy goals.
  2. Coordinate and supervise all phases of the activities program, including night activities and meal times in addition to arts, sports, nature, and aquatics.
  3. Be the Master of Ceremonies at night activities, meal times and whole camp activities.
  4. Keep Living Unit Staff “on track” regarding the daily needs of the campers.
  5. Be a “mentor” for the living unit staff during stressful times.
  6. Encourage creativity and high self-esteem.
  7. Encourage and promote cabin spirit.
  8. Help organize living unit activities and be available to assist in supervision.
  9. Follow all camp regulations.

These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
