Interpreters
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Good
skills in signing and communication with the hearing impaired.
- Prefer
experience with handicapped children.
- Prefer
ASL and See Sign (expressive and receptive interpreting
skills).
- Interpreters
must live in housing provided by I.R.R.R., Inc. during the
camp session at the Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing
Camp.
Responsibilities:
The
individual who fills this position will become an employee
of I.R.R.R., Inc. sponsors of Meadowood Springs Speech and
Hearing Camp. He/She shall be responsible to their direct
supervisors and the Board of Directors of I.R.R.R., Inc. It
shall be understood that the employee has a duty to see that
the policies of I.R.R.R., Inc. are maintained as they relate
to the employee’s area of responsibility.
- Interpret
at all camp functions, including staff meetings, training,
announcements and night activities. Primary focus is to
accommodate needs of deaf staff and campers at the same
time.
- Assist
staff members with signing and communicating with the hearing
impaired.
- Instruct
staff on some basic signing and communication with the hearing
impaired.
- Act
as a liaison between clinicians and deaf campers.
- Attend
all daily activities, including nature, sports, swimming,
crafts and group sessions with deaf children.
- Responsible
to the Clinical Director.
These
are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be
reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
This
